Books I Really Loved
I've read a lot of books but only some of them have me engrossed in it, never wanting to put the book down. I have twenty-five Nancy Drew books but they don't come in my list. Why? Because I read Nancy Drew because  it's light, fun to read and I like mysteries but I don't think it deserves to come in the list because for me it's just to pass time, not like reading worthy literature. So here's my list:

1. Chasing Redbird by Sharon Creech
Buy Chasing RedbirdI don't think anyone's heard much of this author and even I just picked up the book without much thought. That was probably the best thing I ever did because this book,I thought, is beautiful.
13-year old Zinnia Taylor lives on a farm in Baybanks, Kentucky with a slew of brothers and sisters. One summer she find a long-forgotten overgrown trail in the woods which she becomes determined to clear. Along the way she unravels dark secrets about her aunt's life and her own.
This is a very deep book and it makes you think a lot. If you like to read, then you must read this.

2. Percy Jackson by Rick Riordan
Front CoverPeople may think that Percy Jackson is much like Harry Potter but, no, it isn't. I'm a big Harry Potter hater and I was under the same impression that PJ was like that. My friend was trying to get me to read Percy Jackson and I was really reluctant. In the end, however, I finally bought The Lightning Thief and halfway through, I got bored. Then I started reading again and was lost in it. So I read all the books and now I'm a huge Percy Jackson fan. There's a lot fighting monsters etc. but it has the right amount of humour and normalness [I just made that word]. Even if you read Harry Potter, you will enjoy Percy Jackson.

3. Sammy Keyes by Wendelin Van Draanen
Buy Sammy Keyes And The Curse Of Moustache MarySammy Keyes is an average unpopular junior high student. Her best friend claims that trouble seems to find Sammy. And Sammy always sorts out the trouble. The best thing is, Sammy doesn't claim she's a amateur detective the way Nancy Drew does. She just think she's at the wrong place at the wrong time. Sammy is super smart in solving mysteries. And, ohhh, those mysteries! They're probably the best thought out plots ever because each mystery is so unique. Sammy waves at a thief in a hotel, Sammy is the main suspect when jewelery disappears from a church, Sammy witnesses a man in skeleton clothes stealing silver, Sammy fights an art thief, Sammy's float in Chrismastime is sabotaged, Sammy is in possesion of another girl's baby! How can you not read these books?

4. Ally's World by Karen McCombie
Ally's World is big series of books about Ally and her nutty family. Since there are so many books I can't really give a summary so I'm just copy-pasting Karen's.
A guided tour of Allys WorldAlly Love is just one member of a borderline fruitcake family. Apart from her laid-back dad, she shares her gently falling-down house with sisters Linnhe (uptight) and Rowan (airhead), kid brother Tor (strangely silent) and a menagerie of pets (all slightly wonky). Then there're her best mates Sandie and Billy, who're both brilliant but who don't tend to speak to each other much. Oops. Maybe the only one who could make sense of Ally's World is Mum, but she doesn't happen to be around. Whatever, there's always something going on in Ally's World...
They are fun and light books and an average girl can really relate to Ally's problems. Karen's style of writing is very humorous and that keeps you interested.

5.Driftwood by Cathy Cassidy
Hannah and Joey have been best friend forever. Joey's parents love rescuing things and making use of them. Then Joey's foster brother, Paul moves in. At first it's great but then things go wrong- Paul is being bullied, subtly at first but then it gets dangerous. Hannah doesn't know how to help and Paul doesn't want to be helped- but with help he can find a way to rescue himself.
Another thought-stirring and emotional book.
